Kingman Hall

One out of 17 houses that comprise the Berkeley Student Cooperative, a Non-profit Organization founded in 1933. Kingman Hall was originally built as a fraternity house but ended up as the site of a cult in the 70s, followed by a housing cooperative that has been brimming with a culture of love since the 80s.
This four-story, 10,000 sqft home has a panoramic view of the Bay, a large natural Amphitheater with a segment of Strawberry Creek running through it. There is a well-maintained garden with herbs, tomatoes, seasonal vegetables, and three chickens. There is an industrial kitchen, and spacious common spaces, including a dining room, Sun Room, projector room, and a study.
She is really accessible and knowledgable. She definitely puts in the work to make and fulfill her duties and is very kind and respectful in interactions with members”

House is already a hard position to be in. Considering the amount of extra work that Alex personally took on while navigating the reopening of Kingman, this position this semester has called for far more work than it normally would have. She has handled it with grace and determination, coming from a place of deep love and respect for this house as a transformative community based space to live and exist in.

Alex has worked very hard to open the house. I appreciate her going to the extra step to secure our permit and find her to be approachable and kind and helpful.

Alex has been working very diligently to ensure our ability to live in this home since last semester. She has done an amazing job considering all of the circumstances out of our control and was paramount to us moving in at the time we did. Overall, she's been excellent!

Alex worked relentlessly to push for our house's reopening and is a great house manager.

I have full confidence in Alex to manage our house safely. It is obvious that Alex cares deeply about Kingman and all of its residents, and I have yet to see them miss a meeting of any sort, or nightly dinner/council/food politics. Alex has been very diligent in getting our house up and running and their dedication to the safety of the house as a whole is quite clear. Alex is also quite transparent in communication between the BSC, city hall, and Kingman hall residents.
